How do I wash a shirt without messing it up?

I have two LRG shirts I want to wash but I don't want to mess them up. I heard that I can turn it inside out and wash it with cold water. Then hang dry out so it doesn't mess it up. Is it also okay to use only detergent because I am not going to use bleach. Only two cups of detergent and I am going to wash them both. Any other suggestions?

I'm the queen of laundry. First wash in cold water, and put the detergent in there before the clothes, and throw the large shirts on gentle cycle. When they're finish, hang them up on a shower curtain on hangers or a clothes line to air dry, they'll be ready to wear in one to two days, depending on the material of the shirts. Then all you have to do is iron on the appropriate setting to get the wrinkles out. I do that all the time with my son's shirts, and with my clothes as well, and washing this way will keep your clothes looking new and lasting longer. Do not use bleach unless your shirt is completely white or cotton. You may only need once cup of detergent if you pour while the water is running and swish, it should be soapy enough.
